My plans

Overview of Ideas

Many of my ideas to improve WMUA are introduced on the home page, so I would like to use this section to provide concrete examples of how I hope to bring these ideas to life.

SiqGroup

Two programs I would like to start within WMUA are becoming pen pals with other college radio stations and working with student bands to produce Live on WMUA albums.

The pen pal program would give us the opportunity to share our local bands with stations outside Western Massachusetts. It could include our zine, artwork, and letters from DJs that would be given to the DJ of the pen pal station who runs their show at the same time. This idea is inspired by a tradition that began in 2024, when our department directors traveled to other college stations, including UVM and UNH. It would allow General Body members to interact with college radio communities across New England.

The second program, Live on WMUA, would allow student bands to play a live set during the FM stream. That set would be recorded and turned into a CD and/or a recording for streaming platforms. Other departments could also help conduct an interview and create social media posts highlighting the band.

Published Work

To show my ability to follow through on creative ideas, here are some of my published articles and projects from the past two years:

These are some of my favorite projects I have completed and show my passion for music and radio. Other artists I have written about include Sen Morimoto, Hannah Wicklund, and COUCH. More than anything, I want to be someone WMUA members are excited to vote for and eager to work with.
